I’m redesigning the podcast network Maxium Fun website.
It looks like a preset website, the fact the navigation bar is in the dead center and real small is not great plus it is not interactive. also, the doubling down on the donate buttons is not done well and seems to be more a hotfix then a design choice.
doesn’t respond to window size changes.
is not fixed to the top.
also, it changes the top banner to whatever show you click on losing all navigation and branding, also can’t get back to the homepage.
each ep is in blog post style so you get a title a picture the details then finally the audio player. which is fine when the details are short.
but quickly becomes tiresome when they longer.
the donate page magically has a better banner plus the link to the member’s area which is something you should have on the homepage’s navigation bar because its better for members and also to be a silent rememinder that there are rewards to being a donor.
Maximum Fun target audience is 25 – 34 because of the more entertainment based podcasts and the fact that they have monthly donation-based model makes them need to target people who have disposable income.
Nerdist has a fixed navigation bar that has interaction, it even resizes when you scroll down, the idea that it also has room to feature content is nicer than just a chronological list of what been posted.
Headgum has this nice list of all the podcast with a short description and play button right there so you can just click it and start listening without a redirect.
Gimlet has a pretty nice just image gallery of podcasts which has a nice feeling of exploring the options.
